SNOWSHOEING

Discover snowshoeing in and around Megève/Praz-sur-Arly.

Come and explore the winter wonders of the Mont-Blanc region (Chamonix, Saint-Gervais, Combloux, Praz-sur-Arly, Les Saisies) on snowshoes. Whether you’re a beginner or an enthusiast, let our expert mountain guides guide you into the heart of unspoilt nature.

Snowshoe hikes : Half-day

In the morning or afternoon, take advantage of half-day walks to explore naturalist and heritage themes. Your guide will introduce you to animal tracks and local history, introduce you to the majestic surrounding peaks and take you off-trail to some of the most beautiful and little-known areas.

With the help of a telescope, you might even be able to observe animals such as the Chamois in their natural habitat!

Snowshoe trekking : Full day

Take time to breathe, chat and explore on our day trips. These hikes allow you to cover longer distances or climb peaks at a steady pace. Enjoy a picnic in the mountains or lunch in a high-altitude restaurant, a convivial and invigorating experience. Day trips allow you to go further and immerse yourself in nature.

Equipment: Snowshoes and poles are provided for all hikes.

Meeting point for group outings:
– Car park of the Panoramic cinema (Chemin des Ecoles) in Megève
– Morning: 9.20 am
– Afternoon: 1.50 pm

For private outings, your guide will contact you the day before to arrange a meeting point.

Question fréquentes

No, our snowshoe outings are accessible to both beginners and occasional participants, thanks to routes adapted to each group’s level. Whether it’s a half-day discovery trip or a night outing in Megève, our guides make sure to choose routes that match your physical abilities.

Half-day walks are ideal for beginners, with a moderate elevation gain of 200 to 250 meters, accessible to anyone in good physical condition. For full-day snowshoe hikes, a moderate level of fitness is required to cover around 500 to 600 meters of elevation gain over a distance of 10 km in the heart of the mountain ranges surrounding Megève.

Yes, we offer a tour specifically designed for families with children aged 6 and over. ans, axée sur la découverte ludique et l’observation des traces d’animaux. Les sorties classiques sont ouvertes aux adultes et adolescents, tandis que les randonnées en raquettes nocturnes avec repas en refuge sont accessibles à partir de 12 ans.

The Bureau des Guides offers group outings for half a day (3 hours) or a full day (6 hours), as well as unusual night outings with headlamps. You can also choose a tailor-made private outing in Megève, allowing you to select a personalized theme and an adaptable duration according to your preferences for discovery.

Snowshoe hikes take place mainly around Megève, Combloux, and Praz-sur-Arly, in untouched areas away from the ski slopes. Your guide will introduce you to the mountain heritage and the surrounding peaks, with the possibility of observing chamois through a spotting scope.

The price always includes the rental of snowshoes, poles, and headlamps for night outings. We recommend wearing warm ski clothing and winter hiking boots, and avoiding ‘Moon Boots,’ which are too wide for the bindings of our snowshoes in Megève.

Equipped with headlamps, you discover the magic of the mountains at night, between the crunching snow and the lights of the village of Megève below. These outings may include a a torchlit aperitif or a traditional meal in a mountain hut, offering a unique moment of conviviality in the heart of the Mont-Blanc region.

The meeting point is usually at the Panoramic cinema parking lot in Megève, with specific times for the morning (9:20 a.m.), afternoon (1:50 p.m.), or evening (6:00 p.m.). You can book your ‘snowshoe hiking’ outings directly on our website or contact the Bureau des Guides to arrange a tailor-made outing if no dates match your stay.
